The Thumbnails Addon is Live + 20% Off Memorial Day Sale!

by Thomas Griffin on May 18, 2013

Finally – after many long months, the Thumbnails Addon is here!

For the memorial day sale, use the discount code THUMBS2013 to 20% off your purchase, including upgrades and support token purchases!

It has been a long time coming, but the Thumbnails Addon is finally here. You can now create beautiful and responsive thumbnail navigation for your sliders. The thumbnails themselves are responsive, can be navigated through via arrows or touch, and have their own set of hooks and filters to modify the output.

As for controls, you can modify the thumbnail width, set margins and positioning, and even set ranges for the amount of thumbnails shown. As expected, the Thumbnails Addon works with the Preview Addon so that you can see what your slider will look like with thumbnails before pushing it live.

The Thumbnails Addon currently does not support video or HTML slides, but general support for those slide types will be added in the future. Hooks and filters are available to modify output if needed!

The Thumbnails Addon requires Soliloquy 1.5.2 to work, so be sure to update to the latest version before activating the Addon!

As with all basic addons, only a developer license holder gets access to them, so if you need to upgrade your license, you can do so from your Member’s Area dashboard.

Important Soliloquy Updates

Soliloquy 1.5.2 saw some important core updates to the slider engine (built on FlexSlider). I’ve gone through and manually fixed numerous bigs and inconsistencies that should result in a much more unified slider experience across viewing devices. Make sure to clear out your browser cache and flush any plugin or CDN caches after updating to ensure that you are loading the latest copy of Soliloquy files!

I really hope you enjoy the Addon and look forward to seeing all the things you do with it! 🙂

What’s good about it being ONLY for developers? Please let me have it Grif? 🙂

        Pretty please?

As with all basic Addons, they only come with a developer license. But with 9 awesome Addons (including thumbnails), the developer license price + coupon is a complete steal. 😉

Looks good, but I do not see it in my Developers area to download. Thanks!

AWESOME! Thank you so much! Just in time too. I’m rebuilding my client’s site w/wordpress and of course I was using your slider, hoping they wouldn’t miss thumbnails but you added it just before my preview date. Thank you so much Thomas!

It appears your captions are covering all of the available area to click on the image.

Wow, so it works but the hot spot is lower than before, probably due to the thumbnail size. I’ll have to address that in the text.
Thanks Thomas, glad to know it is working, just a bit differently.

    Hi Thomas,

    Thanks for the add-on

I have been looking for a demo to see the thumbnail add-on in action but don’t see it on the info page. Have you perhaps got a demo for me to view somewhere. I have a got a developer license, but would like to see what the add-on looks like if possible

Ah great thanks. I think my browser was cached because I didn’t see anything at first. My bad – sorry about that 😉

    Hey Thomas,

You told me a few weeks ago this add-on was coming, and here it is! From all indications, it looks great. Congratulations!

    A few quick questions…

Imagine I set up a slider that’s 700px wide, and I want as many thumbnails as possible along the bottom that are still big enough to enable the user to ID the photo.

    1. How many thumbnails might reasonably fit in a space that wide?
    2. Is there a limit to the number of thumbnails that can be displayed?
    3. How is the thumbnail image determined? Is it a auto-cropped version of the original? Or a tiny copy of the original? or something else?
    4. If I’m playing an audio file on the same page as the slider — say, thru a SoundCloud player — will the slider still function normally? (I assume the answer is yes, but wanted to double-check.)

    Thanks in advance…
    Alan

Hi there, I’m interested in learning more about the customizations I can do to make thumbnails for the video slides. Where can I find out more information? It’s a beautiful plugin, just missing that one feature! Thank you so much!
