Say Hello to the Themes Addon
I’ve been hard at work on another Addon, and today is the day that I finally get to release it: the Themes Addon.
The Themes Addon gives you the ability to select a pre-made theme for the slider to enhance its design appearance. This Addon had been in the works for a while, but I never could settle on a good starting point for a theme. Some crucial elements for me were that the theme continue to be responsive and retina ready all while looking good.
I believe the first theme, Metro, accomplishes this. It gives you some good modern control design and effects while still being both responsive and retina ready. Take a look at the example below:
Right now Metro is the only theme offered in the Themes Addon, but I already have two other themes in the works. It takes a lot of time, patience and revisions to ensure that themes are crafted in a way so that they don’t clash with other slider themes, look good on retina devices and present images/content in a compelling and conversion-oriented fashion.
I hope you enjoy the new Addon, and definitely look out for updates to it as new themes are coming down the pipe soon!

This is a fantastic addition! Will there be a way for developers to create their own Themes for it?
griffinjt
Yes! Now that the first theme is out, I am working on some information on how people can create their own themes for the Addon and integrate them in. 🙂

Great to hear. You continually amaze me. I appreciate everything you’ve done with this plugin so far.

not a crazy big deal, but did you test for feed compatibility? i see this in RSS: http://i.john.do/MiLb

Thanks for the notice John! It’s been brought to my attention before, but I had never seen a screenshot, so I’ll work on a patch for it in the next minor release. Shouldn’t be too hard at all. 😉

Excellent!!

great timing. Something I was hoping for and boom there it is. Metro will hopefully go perfectly with a home renovation site I’m doing. I’d like to know how to use soliloquy sliders to sub in for the home page slider in a given wordpress theme… might involve re-working the home.php page I suppose.
griffinjt
Blaine – that’s exactly what you would need to do. Soliloquy has template tags so that you can easily insert them into your template files. You can also query sliders by ID or slug within the template tag, whichever you prefer. 🙂

Oh my client is SO happy! Just signed up for your rss so I could know about changes/addons earlier. Thanks Thomas!
