Soliloquy 1.5.0 is Finally Here!

I’ve been working hard to get Soliloquy 1.5.0 released, and today is finally the day that it hits the shelves for download. It is available now as an automatic update and for download in your Member’s Area.

Updates and Changes
The most immediate and pleasing change that you will notice is that Soliloquy has completely dropped the old Thickbox UI for the new and improved WordPress 3.5 media UI. Soliloquy uses this everywhere in the plugin, from the slide uploader to the metadata editor to the post editor insert screen. It’s beautiful, easy to use and filled with extra tips to make the most out of your slider experience.
The next awesome update is that Soliloquy now features dedicated slides for images, videos and custom HTML. Images can be uploaded like normal, and they can also be inserted from your Media Library. Video slides can be created from YouTube and Vimeo videos, and they now have their own dedicated UI for uploading, managing and inserting them into your slider.
One of my favorite updates is the fact that you can now add in your own custom HTML slides to the slider. HTML slides, like video slides, also have their own dedicated UI for management and include a nice code editor interface for managing your code. HTML slides can take any type of HTML you can think of, so it’s perfect for creating that converting email optin slide or even a collage of photos in one slide. Think of each HTML slide as a blank canvas, and you get to determine its destiny. Nothing is styled inside HTML slides, so you have complete freedom to style and transform as you wish. You are no longer bound to images and filters, so have lots of fun with these new HTML slides.
And the best part is, these new HTML slides come stock with whatever license you buy or may have. 🙂
The last final big update is that v1.5.0 requires WordPress 3.5.1 or greater to work. Since it is built on the new 3.5 media interface, it only makes sense that is would require the latest release to function. If your current version of WordPress is less than 3.5.1, automatic updates will be turned off, so you don’t have to worry about updating and not being able to use the plugin. Just update WordPress, and as long as it is at 3.5.1 or greater, automatic updates will work like normal. 🙂
Apart from these, there are some internal updates that include speed improvements, general code improvements, and other bug fixes that can be found in the Changelog tab from your Member’s Area.

May we insert PHP into the HTML slides? If not, then I imagine the best way to go about that wold be to use the tgmsp_individual_slide filter and append a custom slide to the slider. Am I on the right track?

Yes – you would use a filter in that case. I don’t ever want to be evaluating straight PHP that a user enters – that’s got a security nightmare written all over it. 😉

That’s great. Hope that your showcase links point directly to the pages using your plugin not to the site front page and then we have to search to find the slides using it. Could you have more demos showing the features on your own site?
