6 Ways to Use Non-Image Sliders

by [email protected] on April 2, 2018 | Reader Disclosure

Did you know that sliders aren’t always just made of plain images? They’re not only useful for photographers and online stores. From videos to text to WordPress posts, a slider can have anything in it — it all depends on the plugin you use!

Getting Started

Soliloquy has many addons that will allow you to spice up your website with non-image sliders. Whether you want to display your best articles or show off your Instagram feed, the sky’s the limit here. Just remember that some addons may require you to purchase a certain plan.

Featured Content

As a WordPress blogger, you want to make sure new visitors to your site can access your content easily. A featured content slider is a great way to do just that. This type of slider can be tweaked to your heart’s content, so you can display certain categories, showcase only your best works, or have an auto-updating feed of any new article you post.

There are also multiple display options, ranging from ones including excerpts to just the featured image from that article. All will automatically link to the post, so you can simply place this slider and never have to update it again.

Videos

Video sliders are a great way to advertise a product, promote your brand, or showcase your talents. You can embed videos hosted on Youtube, Vimeo, Wistia, or self-hosted on your website, so you have multiple options.

These, like most if not all Soliloquy sliders, are responsive. That means no ugly, distorted thumbnails or broken carousel controls on mobile!

PDF Files

PDF sliders will elegantly transform your PDF files into a series of images. All formatting and text remain intact, so it will look just as crisp and clean as the original. You can use this to create presentations for education, advertisement, or information. Combined with tools like a carousel and play/pause buttons, this becomes an invaluable feature.

WooCommerce

Do you sell products with WooCommerce? With Soliloquy, you can display your products. Set a price range, exclude certain products, and sort them in certain ways depending on where you place your slider. Images, excerpts, and more can all be included. For an e-commerce blog, this is very useful for displaying your products and boosting sales.

HTML and CSS

If you know HTML or CSS, you can use this knowledge to create any type of slider you can dream of. Text, quotes, links, lists, forms, or a combination of any of these things are all possible. Almost anything you can accomplish with HTML is possible in a slider.

Combine Multiple Types

Slider addons aren’t only able to be used one at a time. You can mix and match them to your heart’s content. Whether that means an HTML slider of quotes that interjects with a video of customer testimonials, or your latest WordPress posts along with excerpts from your latest book, you can do anything you can think of. Combining slider addons in new and unique ways is part of the fun of using Soliloquy.

Sliders: Not Just For Photos
